President Museveni is set to address the nation today where he will provide new measures to fight the Covid-19 virus. The minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng announced 8 new confirmed cases of covid-19 on Monday night. Therefore the president will address the nation on Tuesday evening according to the presidential secretary, Don Wanyana.
‘’With eight new cases of COVID-19 confirmed yesterday, the president will address the country today at 4pm. The broadcast will be live on televisions and radios,’’ Wanyana tweeted.
The president has had 3 national addresses in less than a week and this will be his fourth, all related to the Covid-19. The health minister said on Monday that all cases were travelers from Dubai using Ethiopian Airlines and the Fly Emirates.
She said all 8 cases are Ugandan Nationals who traveled back from Dubai, UAE. Two of them returned on March 20th and the six returned on March 22nd. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Uganda to 9 as a businessman had also returned earlier from Dubai.
During one of the addresses by the president, he advised people to stay home under self-quarantine for 32 days.
Academic institutions were closed down and so far, flights in and out of the country are suspended. This means the president could advise the nation on what to expect in the near future.
